Her relationships with other people are bad, she hates herself, and I think I recall reading she has or had a drug problem, or at least a history with it.
She's impulsive and self-cenetered and trying to use this comic to soothe herself in her own broken way, and while I think it's in poor taste to try to turn it into comedy, and abortion was the right choice for this lady.
Imagine the kid. Imagine a little two year-old, wide-eyed and still surprised by something as innocent as the first snow, and this lady is yelling at that kid, maybe hitting them. Getting high and forgetting about them.
