The New Jedi Order

Dave Filoni has been personally asked to produce and showrun The New Jedi Order, a new animated show for Disney+.

The "rebels sequel" series, Star Wars: Regions Unknown is still on track, however Filoni will be taking a more hands-off role than originally intended, so he can instead focus his efforts on The New Jedi Order. These shows will likely intertwine.

Mark Hamill will be returning to voice Luke Skywalker. This isn't officially confirmed, however Hamill's contract signed for the Sequel Trilogy included a role in an animated series. It's safe to assume they will use Hamills obligation on this series.

The intention of the show is to be "the TCW of the ST" and will focus on Lukes Jedi Order in the years before The Force Awakens. The aim is to make Lukes internal struggle easier to comprehend, and to make him more sympathetic in the leadup to the destruction of his temple.
There will also be a strong focus on both Leia and Han, along with laying out the sequel eras political climate.

Mara Jade is intended to be included, but in a currently unknown capacity. The Grysks will also play a supposedly important role.

While the series will premier on D+, reruns will be played on Disney XD.

5 entire seasons are already greenlit, with the overarching narrative currently being written. More seasons is unlikely but not impossible.

A series of this nature has been intended to eventually be made as far back as 2015, however the new Lucasfilm president (replacing Kathleen Kennedy next year) has made the request for the series to start production before their official introduction to the company so the ball can already be rolling when their contract begins. Kennedy complied.

I hope this post is okay here. I was going to post it on /tv/ or /b/ but was informed against it.
