you had the slums, yeah, but you also had rich financial and industrial districts.
Crack-dens and top-notch jewelry stores.
but like with turning most of Bats' enemies in irredeemable serial killers with hundread of deaths on their rep, writers kept writing more of the worst parts of Gotham and completely forgot the good parts.
now, one COULD make good stories with that.
Especially focusing on Waynetech being one of the last Big Firms staying in a progressively worse Gotham.
but you'd need better writers with a greater vision than we got...
