The idea that Clark COULD be a god, if he wanted to be. That he wouldn't need a secret identity at all. That he could live on the moon, order the continents around, dictate the course of the world.
But, instead, he just takes the bus to work every day, and gets lukewarm coffee from the break room, and puts up with Janice in the copy editing office always taking the last doughnut from the box. And he puts up with Lois and her attitude, and Jimmy and his dumb bullshit, and Perry yelling at him.
He does all of this without complaint, because it's just normal to him. Because he's just a normal human being. Just a man. A good man, in a high-stress job.
Who also, in spite of that, happens to be the most powerful being on the face of the Earth.
THAT is Superman. The man who is both of those things.
