But in short, basically Hilda was grounded because she had some bad act with Johanna, and it was during the second bird parade. When the fireworks of the parade happened, Hilda blackmailed Tontu to escort her onto the roof through his magic portal, before they were spotted by Johanna. She and Twig tried to pull Hilda out of the portal, but that action somehow broke Tontu's portal, causing everyone to be randomly teleported. Hilda, Johanna and Twig got teleported inside the mountain of trolls, and there's a female troll with magic power managed to find them and tried to kill them, before she changed her mind and took them in for shelter. The day after that, she showed them the way back to Trolberg. Unknowingly to Hilda and Johanna, Hilda was cursed with a spell which changes her body with the body of the troll witch's baby, causing her to be teleported back inside the mountain again, as a troll, while her baby gets to be in Hilda's body
That's basically how Hilda got turned into a troll.
