The first question asked is "Is it funny?" This question comes before any questions of character development or if the story is a compelling one. I am by no means the target audience of this show (kids), for whom "being funny" may be deserving of top priority. However, I do think that, for a show that, above all else, claims to be about adventure and the story of a family, we'd want to make sure that the characters are well-developed and consistent and that the story is compelling. From there, we can then worry about adding jokes and making the story "funnier."
I still think the show is fine, but this is probably my largest issue with it overall. It prioritizes humor to the point where, at least to me, the stories do not feel as satisfying as they could.
Perhaps this approach could fit Darkwing better, as it always had a greater emphasis on humor than OG Ducktales, but, again, we will see.
