I respect your opinion OP, but I disagree. The points you make about Dreamworks being a cynical garbage-producing machine are accurate, but that doesn't mean the products they made can't be enjoyable. I have a deep fondness for El Dorado and Prince of Egypt alike, while disliking Shark Tale and the entire Shrek franchise for being cynical, largely empty and joyless products.
I feel like there's a lot of vibrancy and color in El Dorado and Egypt, and I love the feel of the environments and the designs of the characters, even if they're not "classically" animated. Even El Dorado's music for me has a cheesy charm--when I was a kid watching it, my dumbass little siblings would dance to the music even though it sucked, because they were toddlers and they just liked the singing parts in movies. And so that left me with nostalgia even if the movie itself isn't on par animation-wise with Pinocchio, Snow White or a host of other Disney works.
Your industry knowledge is impressive too, and I grant that Dreamworks sounds like it was a shitty company to work for even before SharkTale and Shrek. I can't imagine sitting down to work on a story about horny Spaniards every day if you as an employee didn't share the writers' vision, that must have been annoying.
I'm still glad they made it though, you can never take that from me no matter how many facts you throw out. Nyeh, nyeh, nyeh.>>118197667I like the cut of your jib Anon, you should make a thread about this on /aco/ so we can
ERP about it.
