Redemption "arcs," if you can even call them that, are getting old and tired, and I could see Amity's coming from a mile away. But I didn't expect it to be THIS unabashedly rushed and lazy.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I admit that I liked that midpoint in her redemption where she was acting nice enough yet still wary and somewhat aloof towards Luz (think it was in the episode where they're training in that snowy forest.) In spite of stuff like what
>>118086209 said about the library episode, which really was a shaky aspect of the foundation for such an arc, I guess for a moment I felt like it would be more gradual and have some effort put into it.
But then the rest of it basically happened off-screen and to add insult to injury, a crush on top of all that? After, what, 8 or so sporadic appearances up to that point? If she's going to have a thing for Luz, fine. Honestly I can think of more things to criticize about the show outside of the romance. But the writers couldn't have had a little bit of self-control and hold out until next season at least?
The posts itt about Amity remaining a bully while also sporting a crush are on the right track anyway.
