The thing is writers and fans can't decide if she's Deadpool (wacky maniac still capable of good despite all the bad) or a goody two shoes that only technically used to be a villain like, say, Hawkeye. I'll always go back to the infamous Nintendos accident where people turned against the story en masse because it made Harley look too evil while simultaneously her solo book, which everyone liked, was still using casual murder as comedy material. I've been watching her show lately and there's that one episode where she has a rivalry with Damian and she's constantly talking about murdering the brat, trying to be the coolest, evilest villain in general - but i already know in S2 the writing will pull a 180 to show Harley as a misunderstood poor soul that didn't wanna hurt nobody which is comical
I can't figure out why but it's like she's stuck in a limbo where she's constantly being reinvented in a way that robs her of a definitive identity. She's too iconic of a villain so she's still kept around as that in something like DCSHG that goes for a "traditional" feeling, but then on the other end you have the dozens other incarnations that keep going
>and then Harley forsake Joker and redeemed herself>and then Harley forsake Joker and redeemed herself>and then Harley forsake Joker and redeemed herself>and then Harley forsake Joker and redeemed herself>and then Harley forsake Joker and redeemed herself...and so forth with no clear endgame in sight other than "isn't it funny and endearing that Batman gave her the keys to his super advanced AI security system? She's got a PhD, u'know!"
Give it time i guess?
