It worked out for the best both ways. If he stayed on for Tiny Toons, he wouldn't have gone to Nickelodeon to do Ren & Stimpy.

It's a "pretend cartoon" like he would say. It spends a lot of money on trying to look like Golden Age cartoons, but it's written by writers instead of artists (as Golden Age cartoons were), full of movie references and other unentertaining crap, and the whole project just came off as insincere instead of a new age of Warner Bros cartoons.

Back in those days cartoons were made exclusively for kids, and most of them went unnoticed by kids. Just a lot of wasted airtime for them, hence why it never became a cultural phenomenon along with other reasons.

Animaniacs and Tiny Toons, to a lesser extent, very much were cultural phenomenons and I think the fact that their humor appealed to kids and grown ups alike was a big part of that.

Who remembers Tiny Toons anymore besides some posters on the internet? Compare that to Looney Tunes which was still considered relevant enough to be a major part of the debut of HBOMax.

I love TT when its not focusing on the shitter characters. I like Animaniacs when its either a Warner segment or Pinky/Brain but mostly the latter. Shit like Goodfeathers, Hippos, Rita/Runt or Buttons/Mindy were god awful.

Still out of all of this I would take those shows over RNS in a heartbeat. Tries way too hard and the characters are a migraine and a half.
