Could Indie animation even feasibly work

I've been doing some number crunching, and from my research, the average price of high quality animation goes for $10,000 per second, but assuming we cut corners and lower that to $8,000 instead, it'd even out at $176,000 for 22 minutes of animation per episode, and if we're doing the standard 12 episode season, we're looking at $2,112,000, but lets round that up to about 2,500,00 for VAs and everything else (we're not even going to talk about advertising or marketing).

What ways could you even fund such a project outside of a kickstarter? would patreon even work or are people's attention spans too short for something that'd take MONTHS to complete? also the big problem of actually running a studio to do all this, unless everyone works at home (which has a it's own problems, like leaks happening all the time). is it really just Hollywood that can afford to do this?
