>>117798753Really I think the main thing about it that turns people off is the romantization that it seems to affect on the whole affair.
Contrast to MM&O where you see the characters break down at different points, maybe have a hint of introspection or at least a clear cognizance of how fucked they are, to then just go back to their ways.
920london never really reaches any point of realistic catharsis. Its all a childish dream and the characters are clearly miserable, but stick to their drugs and novel haunts without any kind of introspection.
Again- it just reads like an emo kid waxing nostalgic about how he used to have to only worry about what band he's going to see next and hoping he can sneak a spliff into the moshpit.
One's a full exploration of the cycles of substance abuse and the lifestyle, the other is some fringe gothic kids geeking out over being able to grow mushrooms.
The only comparison is that both hanselman and remy's works feature the drug scene, and both approach it in such starkly different ways its a tad unfair to compare them in my opinion.
But again- the main thing I thinn that puts most people off from remy's comics is the romantization of the subject matters.
I recall that Pervert comic being him throwing a pity party for himself choosing to be a whore. Like, nigga nobody forced you to suck all those dicks for cash.
IIRC.
Thanks anon. I pray your travails see you faring well.
Oh yeah, people also need to read Cheap Thrills and Fresh Meat.
