Overall I love it, it can feel a little dated but that's sort of par for the course for the era that Burroughs was writing in. I can't remember if it was written before or after Tarzan, but Burroughs definitely seems more enthusiastic about Pellucidar's world than Tarzan's. Probably because it's batshit insane and hella fun to write. A few highlights:
>The steampunk mole machine continues to be a plot point throughout the series>The Pteranodons use a race of mind-controlled gorilla-men to enforce the law of their psychic empire>One of the races of the inner earth is just straight up... Dudes With Snake Heads, no shit, this is an actual thing>Main character saves a sexy Inner Earth princess, because of course. Also, the inner earth's inner sun has a moon? And the moon doesn't orbit? It just kind of hangs there, and casts an eternal shadow in one place, called "The Land of Awful Shadow." Also the moon is inhabited.
I fucking love Pellucidar. It's a great setting, and probably Burroughs' finest creation. Partially because he didn't have many. But yeah, it's great. 8/10, would watch the cartoon version if there was one.
