This isn’t the first time we’ve gotten thread spam—when the eighth episode of season five Samurai Jack aired and there were all those EVERYBODY LOVES SOMEBODY threads, that was just flavor-of-the-month type stuff that died down eventually. Years before that we had DRIVES US BATS threads when the Music Meister episode of BATB aired. While the current spam is arguably worse, it doesn’t warrant the creation of a new board.
The reason mlp got one was because they were a million times more pervasive to the point that they took over the entire board with their weird role play stuff, all non-pony threads would get bumped off the board because they didn’t have the restraint to stop posting ponies for even a second, and even after a couple of years as well as the implementation of a designated general thread there wasn’t any sign of the craze slowing down.
This isn’t going to get to that point. Not even close.
Personally, I think if there’s anything that warrants its own containment board it’s ecelebs.
