Is older comic art more dynamic than newer comic art, or is it just my imagination?
I read old comics, Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, the kinda stuff pop art was based on, and it seems like while the art was simpler in some respects it had a lot more action in it.
This page, from Detective Comics #411, really jumped out at me. Every panel, from Talia’s shocked face as she shoots the gun, to his collapse on the railroad tracks, to her tear-filled embrace of Batman, works perfectly for the quick pacing of this scene. I’ve never seen a page in a more modern comic (we’ll define modern as 90s all the way to present) that just hit me like this one.
What do you think?
