It would be realistic.You know, it wouldn't be bad, but they probably won't do it yet, just because this is the first Disney tv cartoon with a queer relationship and Hell, one of the very first Disney things outside of maybe a short (or was that Pixar?) to have it be the protagonist. They'll probably wait until they've had multiple similar things before doing an outright rejection plot especially after building and hyping this up hardcore, the $$$$ blown on the dance sequence along, it probably would be a mistake to do that. That's why for a while gay couples will probably mostly end cartoon series together or at least with the door open to that.
I do think that Andi Mack show has an unrequited gay crush from a supporting character, though. But it was introduced as pretty obviously being that way and as if it'd stay that way, so less likely to feel bait-and-switch or backed on. Lumity is framed as eventually endgame (though realistically in the real world barely any kids are marrying someone they were dating as preteens of course, even without the two worlds problem).
