They occasionally pretend to want more mature comics/cartoons but when someone points out something that's actually more mature they just ignore it or invent some reason to hate it so they don't have to bother actually reading it.
The comics crowd does seem to be slightly more tolerant of stuff that isn't exclusively for children (though the majority still believes stories about a man in spandex beating people up is the height of literature), but even they only pay lip service to a handful of "mature" genre titles (seriously, stop sucking off Jodorowski) while simply dismissing everything that's even slightly outside their comfort zone.
