This seemed like a very average tv show episode, and a boring one too. Here's what they should've done to avoid being a family circus cartoon in this episode:
1. When the storm moved in, it needed to be a lot scarier. Initially it looked like an average snowstorm, nothing to go crazy about. Make it exciting. As it stands, it's not just nonthreatening, it's boring. Make going out into it a risk. The beginning of the episode was a tonal flop.
2. Make weather lady more interesting. Making her wholesome and then *shock* she did a bad thing but we wont really talk about it isn't interesting. What's her justification for kidnapping? Why does she care about her work other than "it would be cool if we could control the weather?" I can't even speculate, we're given so little information. She's a boring character.
3.Will weather lady ever be relevant again? The show doesn't make it seem like it, and so I don't care about her once her laboratory is gone. Being one and done isn't necessarily bad, but the fact we also aren't told what her goals are mean I don't care about her in the moment and now I'll never think about her ever again.
4.The storm argument is boring. The resolution is boring. The resolution to the kidnapped spirit is boring. They could've made it better if: The spirits had a better design, the spirits were having an interesting argument, the resolution didn't work instantly, the resolution to the kidnapped cloud didn't work instantly, the weather lady's lab wasn't destroyed so the kids would need to confront her about her evil ways, etc.
What I mentioned would elevate this episode to more than "basic mystery of the week," right now the only thing going for that episode is good music and good animation. That's really it.
