Once they smell that kind of weakness, no apology is ever enough because they know they can always demand more until they get it.
Unfortunately he's kind of screwed into a corner because doubling down is most assuredly going to justify the decision in Adult Swim's eyes.
It sucks. I loved the show. But there's pretty much zero chance the show will go anywhere now.
