>>116990404If you think about it, Amphibia is diversity and self-insert done RIGHT. Matt’s experience going to Thailand, a very humid Jungle/swamp-ridden country, is what gave us the cool world of Amphibia. And his own experiences as a regular Thai/Asian-American is part of Anne’s own personality, but it doesn’t feel forced, Anne doesn’t make references to her own culture left and right. She’s a regular teenage girl who happens to be Thai. Where as with the Loud House, it seems like the writers were hell-bent on making Amity Bi, with the least bit of subtlety. It would have been nice to have a smooth transition from Bully to someone who appreciates Luz, to someone who falls for Luz, but fuck that. She’s a cunt, who becomes a cunt who wants to eat cunts. Dana was adamant in having a bi character NOW, not later. The end result is something that feels forced. And the fact that this relationship between Luz and Amity is based on Dana’s own crush on her roommate, who’s name is also Luz (lol wtf), concerns me. It’s creepy, and comes off as nothing more than mindless self-insert, mmmmhm, yes.

As Ding Dong from OneyPlays once said,You know how you write a good gay character? WRITE a CHARACTER.”
