>>116909127DC writers have done a fantastic job pissing all over the characters I've loved since the 80's. Decades of abuse and careless, aimless treatment has virtually eradicated any goodwill I developed for them in my youth. I watched as characters like Wally West took his first clumsy steps in Barry's shoes to eventually surpassing him. I watched Dick Grayson become his own man, Kyle Rayner carried the torch alone, Teen Titans became Titans, the Justice League reached for the stars, the JSA extended their family generation after generation and I saw the hope and grandeur of the DC universe stretch past the Legion 1,000,000 years into the future.
Then DC ripped off arms, raped happy-go-lucky characters, retarded the growth of new characters and legacies in service of bringing back the dead in a feeble attempt to recapture the nostalgia of the writers and not the fans. Every new EIC thought the solution was more destruction and edge begat edge. We were on the eve of yet another tragic misstep with 5G, all of the heroes we loved would be replaced. Killed off, aged up, retired... who knows?! Just get them out of the way to shock the readers with new new new, which would then certainly fail and usher back in the heroes. Pointless.
DC was limitless in imagination and fun, hope and potential. It captured young minds for decades and then the people in charge decided that caretaking was stupid and boring. They became obsessed with controversy = cash and they gleefully skewered their fans.
An IP farm that cranks out safe all ages content is preferable to watching them burn their own house of secrets down.
