But in all honesty its rarely character's fault for bombing and more of an incompetent writer.
I loved Gwenpool under hastings but her other version were "meh" at best.
I like Ms Marvel when she wasn't "Oh my Allah! A first Muslim hero!", but a teenager heroine way over her head with sudden powers and her own rouge gallery, protecting her own neighbourhood. When she started being sticked to A-lister teams and their villians, she lost a lot of her charm.
Miles and Riri could work, but they were pareaded around as symbols of SJW victory and written as such rather than as actual characters. They could work just as Ms Marvel - in their own territory with their personalized villians with classic characters as their mentors.
But Marvel tried to make the "better at everything" then originals because they were PoC.
So much good potential wasted by politics. Gwenpool was just a collateral, because not many looked past the first impression, witch was not good at the time.
