In any other situation where a character gets BTFO, it’s not over until they literally die. In the case of the tomatos for example, they got vored, but they still managed to save themselves. It’s a great moment.
When a character gets brainwashed or zombified though, they are no longer themselves. It is a form of death, even if not literal. Sure it can be reversed, but in that moment, THEY HAVE LOST. The character is GONE, and it’s OVER for them. Their fate is completely out of their control.
Now In most zombie episodes, the central character is the last survivor, but in Amphibia, Anne, the character we connect with most, gets spored just like all the rest. Now there’s nothing wrong with giving another character the spotlight, but this wasn’t some side adventure, this was a pretty high stakes cataclysmic event, and the main character is completely left out.
That’s basically my problem.
