>>116293138I think the deal with Canadian productions is that because of tax breaks they’re cheaper to produce than outsourcing to Korea, but due to much more strict labor laws and smaller animation crews they take much longer to produce if held to a decent quality standard. Rick and Morty is also animated in Canada and also takes forever.
It’s a perfect demonstration of a “between good, fast, and cheap, you can only have two” scenario. Hilda opted out of fast.
As for where the trailer is, Netflix usually doesn't put them out until less than a month before release, and I think COVID probably pushed the date farther out than September, probably Oct or Nov. And the reason isn't necessary production bottlenecks in the show due to working from home (though I'm sure there was some), but possibly instead delays with the Gund toy/merch line that they seemed to be planning on launching alongside it.
There's also the question if Sony buying the studio that produces the show changes anything, though I don't think it should (at least this season) for something they've already been contracted to make for another company
