I'm sure nandroids have an instinct for self-preservation. You wouldn't want an expensive maid carelessly crossing against the light. But it's not their first priority. Emmy would sacrifice herself to save Madeline (and maybe other humans.) But they don't fear death so long as their owners are willing to pay for their maintenance.
Obviously, Emmy and her kind are still fantasies. We can't even build cars smart enough to consider deliberately crashing, wrecking themselves and their owners, to avoid hitting a group of a dozen jaywalkers.
