>>116169100>Yet magically he carries the name magically the amazons worship hera You're not following. In real life, the story of Heracles and the character of Hera were made up by the Greeks and said to have existed roughly during the Mycenaean era. It's retroactive. In the DCU, Heracles and Hera really existed and the myths were based on them.
This is what I'm saying. In real life, we know Marston based the Amazons on Greek culture in myths, but in universe, they were real and the culture and myths were based on them.
>Yet did not share language or religionThe Amazons have their own language, as stated in Perez's comics. They also have their own traditions and ceremonies that don't exist in Greek culture.
>Who have such a storyThat isn't their comics origin, though. Have you actually read Perez's comics? They were reincarnated souls of battered women, NOT just Greek women, but women throughout history. Hippolyta herself was the soul of the first human woman ever killed by a man, a cavewoman.
They were created out of clay on the bottom of a lake in Turkey. They never lived in Greece. At all.
My point is that while in real life, yes, the fictional concept of the Amazons is based on Greek culture and myths, in universe they are not actually Greek, in the same way that in real life Hera is not real and did not emerge as a fleshed out character until the late 1000's at least, but fictionally in the story she existed long before that.
In the simplest possible terms I can think of, the Amazons are not Greek because it says word for word in the comics that they are, in the fictional history of the comics, not Greek.
>>116169894I'm talking about their fictional history. In the DC universe, they were created over 3000 years ago, and existed during the time of Heracles. The Greek heroic myths of Heracles and Odysseus were set around 1200-1000 BCE.
