It annoys me that the elevated Manhattan so hard to try and keep his role that he served in the original Watchmen.
I always felt it would have been satisfying to see Manhattan realize he was a big fish in a small pond, and in a universe where there are beings with greater and more consistent feats than his he would have to realize he's further from being a deity than he may believe, and would still have a lot to learn before he's ready to try create beings of his own.
