I'm not saying I disregard that Bow had a complicated home life. It was unnecessary but I accepted it for the sake of expanding the character (largely with the wrong intentions as expressed but not entirely) and even hoped to see those characters matter more than they did.
However, truly, what was the point? How glaringly out of nowhere is this to be presented? "Oh, Bow grew up in some big-ass house they managed to settle into largely unmanageable magic woods He had a dozen siblings presumably from his bi dad's former wife? Christ how hard are we laying on that gay people are supposed to be able to take on a family?
Anyway they get their answer about missing constellations or some shit if memory serves but I can appreciate that the episode served to shift the tone to a something different in what largely was an intentional distraction to take us away from our heroes stressing about the immediate fate of the world.
