>>115992499There is far more overlap between the T and the non-heteronormative wings of G and L than most people assume, along with far more antipathy within G and L towards those wings as well. The L didn't really bring them in as allies against the G and B, arguments of where transwomen fall with lesbianism have been around since the 80s (mostly against them) and the term TERF dates back to at least the early 90s, and the rise of T to prominence in the movement has far more to do with the basic goals of the LGB part being achieved.
In particular the latter point is something fairly common among activism movements. You might have a dozen or so things you want to change, but you're going to have a two or three issues as your primary focus and once those are achieved you're going to see a major drop off. This is especially true if your other points of contention are complex and lack easy, quick solutions. In this case, once gay marriage, domestic rights, and anti-discrimination laws were in place a good chunk of the movement just withered, however since the T have a completely different set of issues and only really went with the LGB because their goals were mutually beneficial and they feared being turned into a wedge, they simply picked up the existing activism structure and carried on. Add onto that a huge amount of astroturfing by the medical industry because a transitioning person is worth upwards of an additional 50k in medical procedures and drugs and it's not hard to see why the T became prominent. It's not really a matter of them suborning the agenda, it's a matter of no one really caring that much about the remaining LGB issues.
And no one has ever really treated the bisexuals as a valid identity.
