>>115955548>why would black actors need to be given extra chances at being cast? The entertainment industry has predominantly been catered to white audiences, only just recently branching to different cultures and to POCs. Everybody deserves to see themselves accurately portrayed in the media, but most animated productions still see white as the default. It doesn't matter if Blacks are a minority; they still exist and shouldn't constantly be cast aside in a show or movie's main cast of characters.
You can tell that to this day, most casting directors are more likely to cast white VAs for Black roles than the other way around. That racial bias still gets in the way. There are more Mike Henrys and Hank Azarias than Phil LaMarrs or Cree Summerses, and that comes down to casting departments not reaching out to these minorities as often and giving them an equal chance.
If Black people are such a minority, then the least Hollywood could do is allow them the few leading roles of their own race. Your Boondocks and Black Dynamites come once in a blue moon. White VAs will ALWAYS have another audition they'll be called in for the very next day.
