Pretty much the whole selling point. X-Men 1, Charles and Magneto are enemies but they implied they were good friends who had a falling out. So the movie has to sell on how close these guys are, before the inedible break up.

You don't have to kill someone to neutralize them. I remember someone on /tg/ was in a superhero game and there was a guy who took as much invincibility stuff as he could. The villain just threw him miles away and he had to spend the rest of the day walking back to town
