>>115831095>The problem is that it wasn't a pay off to anything and it didn't tie into the theme of the movie.It's actually just the opposite. It runs *counter* to the themes of the movie. All throughout the movie Clark is told he has to wait and be patient and mature to make a choice despite all the various hopes put on him. Jor El wants him to be a savior, Jonathan wants him to have a safe normal life, and the movie says Clark has to find his path and make a choice. He askshi father figures, Lois, priests, what to do, all in the service of making a choice.
But then ultimately, none of his choices matter. He doesn't get to decide to reveal himself to the world; Zod does it for him. He doesn't get to decide to kill Zod, because otherwise they'll just keep fighting forever and more people will die. His agency is made out to be a big deal, but plot contrivances Snyder and Goyer wanted require a near complete lack of agency.
