Actually it was anons that didn’t really cared about Spider-Man that much. In a twisted way SSM was a good jumping on point because everything was torn down and something new was built up. But Slott was the worst writer. You got better content from Gage and Yost.

So what's going on with Otto? Last I saw him, he turned down being Superior Spider-Man because an alt universe Norman Osborn was threatening some innocent lives?

All things considered, that seems like a redemption arc, and it's a shame he feels he has to return to being a villain. Hopefully Peter could talk some sense into him or at least the story progresses in a way that makes his return to villainy feel organic.

Everything Superior onwards is fucking retarded.

As bad as the Clone Saga shit was, Dr. Octopus saving Peter was easily one of the best parts of that whole mess, and one of the best Doc Ock stories of all time.

Why do people hate Slott so much? It’s so often presumed to be the default opinion I’ve never gotten an answer. I’ve read comics a long time but only recently started getting into fandom spaces, so I was surprised he’s so reviled.

Slott was decent before Dying Wish. But he obviously took inspiration from Brevoort's "make people angry to sell comics" approach.

And there's also Parkertech, his relationship with Mockinbird, destroying his company and leaving him worst off then before. And he killed Flash in the very end of his run.

It was sickening to see Peter address Ben as the Jackal when they were reunited in Spider-Geddon, especially since he wasn't even wearing his Jackal suit anymore.
