Because they want to feel smarter than it. Zootopia isn’t the 1-1 racism allegory they want it to be where the predators and prey are definitively whites and minorities respectively. Really the world functions on its own logic and the acts of prejudice are merely meant to teach children that bigotry can manifest in many ways, and all people are capable of their own biases.

The metaphor is dumb. The idea that they were going for was that racism is stupid because the difference between white and black is shallow at best by using herbivores as proxies for whites and carnivores as proxies for blacks. It falls apart when you realize that the difference between herbivores and carnivores is not shallow at all and they are extremely different.

Racism is stupid because it is prejudice that divides society and causes innocent people lives to be ruined by biased hatred. Herbivores and predators are different. Every species is different. Likewise, black people and white people are different, along with every other race and demographic on the planet. But those differences don't mean that one demographic deserves less respect and kindness than another, or that they can't live together in harmony.
