>>115476384thanks again! I'll look into it.
I've finally read the Tales of Childhood Past and... woah. I knew things were bad but thi is just incredible.
Like I feared Enter seems to conflate gender differences and racism, not so much here like in his dream episode but stilll... Those are two vastly different problems that deserve specific attention.
Heck , having an animate series tackle those kind of subject would actually be hreat but not like this. This story reads like a story that wants to promopte equity and yet everything the girls like doing is showed as innoquous at best and exremely boring at worse, while all the biys past-times are framed as the coolest thing in the world.
the only character that seems to defy gender roles does so by converting 100% to acting like a male without any given reason. Actually no, the reason is that boys are just way cooler than girls.
And the whole frog stampede just feels like a deus ex machina. they were mentioned beforehand but not in a capacity that suggests what's going to happen.
Also, the part where the guy just realizes he was wrong right after he sells his brothers to the government and the part where one of the guards screams "we went too far!" reads like a propaganda piece. Because of course people are just evil and keep doing what they're doing while completely knowing it's evil, that's ahow people works, they don't have ulterior, more complex. maybe misguided intentions.
and, dulcis in fundo, that coment where he says "how can someone think i don't like girls? a girl solves everything!" is just so stupid. we don't know anything about venus before she just magically grants everyone equal rights, making her decisions mooth in the eye of the reader, especially if we consider that at the end she didn't really solve anything, but just forces opposite gender roles to the opposite sex for a day, while true equality would be to just allow boys to act like girls and girls to act as boys if they so want to.
