>>115222676But was he really joking? after all, the moment the first layer of irony is planted, it becomes next to impossible to clearly discern whether it's all a joke or meant seriously. among a multitude of buffoons and morally wrong, the person who only does the same things in an 'ironic' fashion, still ends up doing the exact same wrongs.
But there isn't just one layer of irony. The joke he appears to have tried to make here has been already deeply entrenched in several other layers of obfuscation. Namely one being language. That's basically at the very root; the languages we use in itself is a half-lie. It's a lie, because the meanings that we have attached to the words we use, do not necessarily mean the same 'essence' that the object or concept naturally possesses on its own. The meaning of 'chair' when you say it to point to something becomes one layer removed from its original essence. Its original meaning.
And that's just at the very bottom. Further layers are added by the means of technology. As we improve our tools (to communicate and all else) so does, our tools, reflect back on us and influence us. We have become so removed from the original meanings in the modern internet-filled world that we have come all the way back around, like a loop, we have once again started using logograms (i.e. emojis) instead of ironic shitposting to convey meaning.
