What happened to cartoon mascots? They either died off or became overly sterilized.
Who thought this new design was good on any level? Especially when there was a design that already worked to compare it to.
Not to say they can't try a new style at all, ever, but at least try to make it appealing. That's the whole point of using cartoon characters to entice people to buy your product.
