Whoa shit this looks fucking great, I always maintaned that Ninjago would be improved hundred-fold by traditional animation, something like this would've made it a 10/10 GOAT. This has the animation down pat but there's the risk of it being another Rise of TMNT, i.e. weaker in the story department.

What gets me is is why did they choose "lego blockman" design again? They clearly want us to take this somewhat seriously given the animation, but part of the reason why Ninjago didn't get much of a fanbase besides the based demographic was nobody being able to look passed the initial look of it.

Hell, even the Lego movie only gets a pass because they're literally lego toys in-universe and it's a comedy.

Bionicle didn't do this shit.

The "cheapest" one is by far the least worth it set for value. They're high up there, but the parts count is also very high, so the PPP ratio gets better in the bigger sets.

I think the reason they're so expensive is because they're attaching really complex side builds. So instead of having a small set featuring that convenience store and tuktuk, and another one entirely dedicated to the Red Boy truck, they combined both and that sent the price soaring.

anon, /co/ is lucky to get maybe one or two shows per year that's worth talking about in any capacity. pretty much only rise tmnt and now monkie kid look specifically like this because theyre both animated by the same animation studio in australia
the only other studio I can think of who's having an upcoming tv show that might be really worth something is cartoon saloon's show, and their style is far away from fast paced anime

I think what really matters in the end is if the animation is stylistically fitting what the writing and tone is. monkie kid seems like it's going to be mostly focused on showcasing fast paced action, so this studio would fit that pretty well

Yea I think this show knows what it wants to be tone-wise and has an art style to match, I’m just waiting for like sakuga cartoons with a more grounded artstyle alongside these more off the wall ones. I don’t want the 2020s to just be imitators of Gainax and that’s it, I wanna mix it up with different tones and writing styles and all that good stuff. But with Rise, Glitch techs and now this, I’m kind of scared we might only be heading in one direction, a direction I still like but I want the path to branch. Make action cartoons come back swinging.

I can see that but when there's so few action shows that get trickled out in the first place these days, just the studios that are available to do them are quite limited in number and there's not much leeway to have that many choices.
it might also just be a matter of time, since flying bark is pretty new to animating action cartoons and perhaps need some number of years to figure out their own signature outside of being trigger-like

This show looks like it'll cost a ton of money to produce. It's like Lego is expecting those new sets to sell like hotcakes, probably mostly in China.
Though I gotta say the sets do look pretty good. I love the monkey king mech and the giant bull monster.
