the only thing people seem to latch on to is the character design. They are fine everyone is recognizable visually however the characters portrayed are void of any personal character. everyone but liono are just there to exist to progress the story. the kids sometimes do their own thing since they are young and to be expected but it ultimately doesnt matter.
the story is garbage too. the people and places they encounter are far more interesting than the main cast but they never got anymore focus than one off episodes. Fetch quest adventure story are one of the simplest forms of conveying story around that era of shows coming out or airing but it feels like they werent really trying.
soundtrack is garbage too. pretty sure they use one of those royalty free trailer lel epic music for most of it.
animations are stiff as FUCK even during the action scenes the motions they were doing are interesting but the animation for those actions was bad (storyboarding probably wanted more effort for the fights but never got it). currently that situation for shows today storyboarding usually does translate to decent animations because people are starting to get extra anal about it.
The praise the show gets today versus what it really is confuses me. Roar might not be serious or have "original" designs but its a fun show with decent action. Everyone introduced has their own [simple] personalities even characters that arent in the maincast. Instead of being one off encounters they come back so you can see how they interact with each other. They use the original show scores remastered. I will admit though sometimes nu-liono gets too random but i think they started calming him down a bit after the first several eps.
the show isnt amazing but the amount of shit flinging it gets is a bit unjustified compared to other shows /co/ would rather talk about
