I've got two grand maybe three and want to do a small project with a splash/illustration to accompany each of a few prose short stories. Not looking for one artist per say, I'd kind of prefer some variance but would any pros/semi-pros out there be looking to supplement a page or two at their normal rate? I know there are at least a few that lurk here, honesty probably more reach than I'd get on twitter. If you do see me ask on social media DM me, no need to put your rates in public and lock yourself into them.
I know I'm talking in pretty broad strokes here and I'd be outting myself eventually on twitter but just gauging interest for the moment. I'm kind of seen as a piece of shit and most of your colleagues likely hate me if they do happen know of me but I'll pay whatever your rate is and it's largely based on social media interactions they've seen rather than conversations. I'm not a racist or homophobe or anything just a dick a lot of the time because I don't like half assed comics and that's all that seems to be sold lately (and I happen to lean to the right so I'm a "bigot")
But the idea and opportunity are certainly there if I think there's interest. The thing is, I'm looking for pros who are out of work at the moment not up and comers or people who need me to wait while they finish some indie book. Part of it is, yes it's built in outreach to potential readers, but also because pros generally meet deadlines better than non-pros and I'm looking to fill time now, taking advantage of the down time rather than waiting for a typical packed schedule. Note you name your price and I don't expect it to be lower than on your publisher backed projects. It's not about me trying to scheme a discount, it's about keeping busy at the same page rate - the benefit is the downtime being filled doing a job that would otherwise be well below your popularity level and not below your pay grade.
