Progressives take representation literally, meaning that a female character on screen represents ALL women, a black character in a comic page represents ALL black people. And when these characters do or experience negative things, it becomes an attack against the entire demographic. So progressive-pandering creators go hard into representation by making female characters and black characters into saints, champions, and idols because anything else would be heretical.
Representation's primary supporting argument is that it allows readers to relate to someone "who looks like them." This is straight up racism, tribalism, whatever you want to call it. It creates an attitude that puts appearance above common ground, above shared experience. People are reduced to skin colors and genders rather than relate to each other as human beings.
