Also, I'd argue that Cotton isn't mad at Hank for "failing" anything, per se, but just because he is used as an outlet for all of Cotton's aggression and regrets about his own life. Hank, by all measures, is pretty successful and happy- it's only somebody with a mindset like Cotton that gives him shit for it, despite never having that harmonious of a family life. Hank has his lumps but he has THREE friends, is happy, has a loving wife and son, loves his job, and is an upstanding citizen. In Cotton's twisted vision, Hank is whipped, forced into this life, isn't raising Bobby right, and ought to be fucking random whores and gettin his shins blown off in some random skirmish. I mean, not literally, but Cotton clearly carries resentment about his disability and Hank's lifestyle, despite Cotton NEVER achieving the supposed ideal male's life.
