Now MCU's Iron Man had to make some tough choices to insure his team was doing the right thing, examples are Ultron and Civil War. I think it was RDJ's charisma that endured him to fans even when he was in the wrong.
I bring up Iron Man since he was a leader much like Cap but main difference is that he followed his own code much like Batman is often portrayed to do. Which is a quality I see most people to respect rather than the traditional role of listening top-down orders that restrict Cyclops and Leonardo. Superman, Mr. Fantastic and Captain America ain't really hampered by anyone lording above them.
Cyclops is going to have to make similar choices as Iron Man and Captain America did in the movies. It is up to FOX if they want to go with someone charming or slowly reveal Cyclops inner conflict and win fans over.
I would say the latter fits Cyclops personality more. He always keeps himself in arms length due to his fear of hurting others and growing up in an orphanage that Mr. Sinister was running to mess with his mind.
Even before Wolverine's introduction to the team, other X-men like Angel, Beast and even Iceman seemed to be in the forefront of the action and going for Jean. Cyclops always seemed to hang in the back until he is needed, he is a little bit like Batman really.
