Why didn't Mai and Ty Lee get an episode all to themselves? It would have gotten us inside their heads, fleshed out their characters, made them more sympathetic. It would have made us more sympathetic to the idea of Mai getting with Zuko, and it would have helped us understand why both of them would betray Azula. The closest we get is "The Beach," and that's really more about Zuko and Azula, neither Mai nor Ty Lee gets any real screentime.
