So far scaly animals grow up into scaly adults, feathered babies grow up into adults with even more feathers, and most commonly bald infants grow into feathered adults. But never, not even once, has there ever been an animal known to be feathered that grows into a bald adult.
If a feathered baby dinosaur were discovered we would have to assume the adult was also feathered, because anything else would be unprecedented.
On the other hand if we find a scaly adult dinosaur, you would have to assume the baby was scaly, because anything else is unprecedented
