See, the problem is there ARE girls who are interested in you. They like video games, and watch anime. They have an opinion on Game of Thrones. They like drinking beer and smoke weed if you do too. They'll go to cons and cosplay. Not just a hat, but a full outfit. Something with some effort put in it. Something that shows skin too. Some of them even know what ahegao is and know how to get past sadpanda.
But they're all fat or have bad skin or some kind of weird face trait, like an overbite. So you reject them, holding out hope you'll get a somewhat passable girl to notice you. We're not talking a 9 or 10 here, but a 6. A girl who is plain and modest in the chest and not very noticeable, but isn't what you or anyone else would call ugly.
And so, you get older and fatter and weirder yourself. You don't exercise, you keep drinking soda, you keep putting off that day you finally get your shit in gear and do the treadmill 20 minutes a day, every single day. Until you're in your early to mid 30s, not even wondering if it'll ever happen by chance, but if it'll happen at all, even if you clean yourself up and get yourself out there. How do you talk to girls at bars? How do you talk to them at the freakin' comic shop? Who the hell just asks somebody to go on a date anymore?
Even if a girl shows the slightest bit of interest toward you - not even interest, just kindness - you immediately prejudge their entire potential. "Is this the girl I could see myself marrying?" "Would I have kids with her?" "Do I even want kids?" "What if she thinks Super Gobo Robo X is stupid?" "What if she wants to go hiking every month?" "Would she let me do THAT fetish?" "Would she expect me to do let her do THAT to me?"
You scroll through the pics in a dating app, begging for a match, until the notification comes up. "Someone Likes You!" You immediately mash the button to open the app. And there she is. Anime. Video Games. GoT. Fat. You swipe left.
