>>114065501After Batman Ninja was released they did a controversial Elseworlds cartoon called Batman Klansman. It was quickly pulled. The story takes place in the post Civil War South and plantation owners Thomas and Martha Wayne are murdered by a freed slave named Jarbongus Chill. (Despite the Waynes having been vocal abolitionists. ) Bruce vows revenge and as he is trained to fight by an Irish indentured servant who had been a boxer (Alfred O'Malley) and a mysterious coolie railroad worker (but of an anachronism there), Bruce notices that black people appear to have a terror of ghosts. He decides to dress up as a ghost and terrorize criminal blacks at night. He is lauded as a hero and even accidentally inspires the rise of similarly dressed vigilantes. At the end they have beaten the freed slaves into civility, but the film leaves with a strangely hook nosed clown who runs the local circus buying up the local newspaper company. He sits and reads of the Klansman's heroism, and we see that his desk placard reads "Jack Napierberg". He growls "Ghostly hero terrorizes? Wait til they get a load of me..."
