Partially right. More accurately, human /civilians/ such as the Beach City residents were the whole reason the show started to fall apart. Humanity was only ever treated as a passive side-attraction and not a powerful force in its own right. We should have had a stronger military and government involvement, possibly working hand-in-hand with the Crystal Gems, or conducting regular surveillance on them before only getting involved when Homeworld came knocking on our collective door.

Ruby tried to shatter Steven with a blade, Amethyst fell onto a rock & nearly broke, Bismuth & Rose (herself a diamond) were both convinced the Shattering Point could break gems. The falling from orbit scene is literally the only thing to suggest gems are durable at all, & it was meant in a comedic light. You might as well say Connie is a shapeshifter because she’s shorter in later seasons to accomodate changes in tone/artstyle

These are all feats done by gems onto other gems, the fact Amethyst in hindsight suffers the least damaging thing that can be done to a gem at the very BEST especially when she fell directly onto her gem (if she landed literally anywhere else on her body, I can guarantee you she'd be fine, on top of the fact the rock she lands on is SUPER jagged and was clearly meant to put precise pressure on her.)

Yes, the show is EXTREMELY inconsistent, but the true times they're actually weak is only once and that's when a human ever does something.
And that's what the discussion was about.
How a gem fares against humans and human capacity.
If all the examples listed for why 'a gem is weak lol' is stuff that another gem does to [x] gem, that's not representative of how a gem fairs against a human and vice versa.

And you can clearly see Peridot pick up the rod & send it flying into Jasper as it impacts a whole second later. I’m not saying gems are weak, but there are clear instances when they’re 100% not as durable as you’re saying (bc Sugar can’t decide how strong they are)

And if a gem's core isn't exposed? This is particularly problematic when you're facing a direct counter to a lot of these arguments, Garnet who's core is the most well protected out of everyone.
Don't even get me started on how inhuman a gem has to be to shatter a boulder with a kick you know, or basically do whatever.. Sardonyx did, Sugilite did. Lift shit like Peridot's technology did, or Garnet stopping a car from ramming right into her WITH gem tech.
Yeah. not sure what you want here but there's way too much in support of gems but again, this all falls apart with two specific examples so this argument is dumb.

Again, this whole argument is REALLY dumb when you try to define the WHOLE GEM RACE based off some of these iffy as hell examples.

I guess I'll post this here rather than start a new thread. I was bored so I made a graph of all of SU's imdb ratings. You can see a very clear trend of highly rated episodes being followed immediately with a nosedive which feels accurate.

That isn't fair, that damage was significant at the time Amethyst's body was glitching out like crazy she couldn't even communicate and was losing function of her body and even the slightest ding to the gem exacerbated the crack. She could barely do anything, any gem that sustains that damage would be taken out of commission until they are healed which wasn't widely available to gemkind until after Steven solved the universe. The size is specifically the problem. Pressure = force / area. It having a larger impact site negates its effect greatly. Besides that there are no unknown factors. There is no sonic boom, it can’t possibly be far away enough to even come close to Mach 1 - let alone Mach 2 or beyond - & we can observe it’s not even starting at that soeed when it lifts off the ground. You want the real answer from a non-autist? Lazy worldbuilding. The show is completely fine using everything that goes with a modern setting as backdrop, until it could potentially interrupt their story, and then all those convenient aspects of the modern day go out the window. Something like the gem ships would be easily detectable by any major power based on the little information we have in the show, plus coupled with the fact that gems regard humans as akin to ants and would see no reason to hide themselves from these powers, and yet we'll still never see the humans fight back. Modern humans could easily poof or shatter most of the gems we see in the series with their current level of technology, not to mention any co-opted gem tech, which would probably be figured out in a heartbeat considering how valuable something like hard light constructs or sentient computer slaves night be, not to mention interstellar travel and black hole space warp drives, programmable faux-biological computers, INFINITE FUCKING ENERGY, and whatever other shit that gems run off of. It's lazy worldbuilding, is what it is. Sugar just wants the gems to use medieval weapons, without answering the tougher question of how an alternate earth history might go. Fuck man they've even said that WW2 didn't happen in this universe. Shit makes no fucking sense.

Before the Bismuth episode aired I kinda hoped it'd actually touch on that. Bismuth seems like 100% the type to end up mingling with humans some. Humans have a massive advantage in ground combat and the Gems are way too fucking numerous and stupid to actually use their dominant position in the skies and the orbit for much of anything.
The only problem would be the doomsday weapons they drop ever now and again. Otherwise humanity will be fully capable of just grinding waves of shitty infantry to dust and attempt to reverse-engineer Gem tech. Probably without too much success for the more far-out pieces of it.
And we can be sure Gems would be quite stupid about the way they handle this war. Bringing in heavy guns for a small planet with organics on it is admitting they're stronger than your ground forces, which the mid-class managers of the Gem empire are way too arrogant and overall far from bright (see Emerald, Holly Blue and the three Garnets in the games) to deal with; the Gempire's numbers have to be far beyond just hundreds of billions, simply because of how much planets they got and the way they reproduce, so throwing lives away will be pretty much the way of warfare for Era 2.

Don't know about Say Uncle, but I hate Rocknaldo mainly because Ronaldo was unironically my favorite human character. He's a conspiracy nut who was so smart and yet at the same time so ridiculously stupid, as he constantly mixed cheesy paranormal garbage with actual valid conclusions relating to Gem society. He'd be a genius if he actually gained some semblance of focus, and I personally find that trait really entertaining to watch mixed with his immature and geeky personality.

This episode took the less than pleasant aspects of Ronaldo and dialed them up to eleven, turning him to an absolute unlikeable jerk that destroyed any interest I had left in his character. The moral is also not really apparent, as it clearly has some weird feminist message in it but doesn't actually make it clear on what said message actually is.

Gem durability is hard to measure as peridot which supposed to be weaker then amethyst survive worst things then Amethyst without poofing, heck if it was peridot fell off the same cliff as Amethyst she would have been fine.
