It’s not like the idea of a child growing up without their parent doing all the typical necessary paperwork is completely unprecedented. It happens often enough in the real world too. Crazy abusive people, cults, the amish, hippies, eccentric homeschoolers, and immigrants do this all the time. It’s probably a bitch to deal with but at least it’s not unheard of.
