>>113873494At their core, they are bad. At some extension, they restrict the creativity, and impose jarring changes to the original visions, the authenticity of the writers. When the company comes in to make its part for the comic, it should be for helping and giving reference and others, not to restrict their intentions.
>>113873531The absence of mandates may bring some elevation at the quality. It would, however, still not be enough to reach the good, great quality. For the most part, Ian is just not good at writing, who simply keeps bringing on very long arcs and retreads, and the mandates are in their turn bringing little of their parts to further make the comics be more tedious.
I don't stand by that the mandates are the one, and only reason the Sonic comics are not good, but I think it's foolish to disregard them either. In the end, both Ian and the mandates are a problem, even when it's more important to focus with the former. It's preferable to have a good writer who's free to do as whichever as he desires to.
Creating another book to stay separate from the main book and be free of the constant repetitive stuff is a lazy, bad idea. Instead that, how about focusing at fixing the main book itself?
>>113873634No, no, it's not that I dislike Universe. I do like it and its initiative. I think it's very clever to have a second book dedicated to have side characters shine at their own. It's just the few chosen arcs that I personally disliked. For example, the Scourge one, where it ended in nothing much, was quite predictable, and I was hoping some insight at Scourge and its, while entertaining, also flanderized one-dimensional personality.
The Journey to the East misses the point of Universe. Why was it not relegated to the main comic? The same goes to the Babylon Rogues arc.
And why did Universe reserve its spots for Words Collide and Unite? Couldn't the crossovers be just all contained to one new another side-comic?
